GCOPS cooks up police support at community at BBQ
A recently formed non-profit supporting law enforcement is calling in for backup from our community.
G-Cops, or Gulfport Community Organizing Police Support, had a barbecue today with all donations made going to support the city’s police department. There were family-fun activities like face painting and games. Gulfport cops helped grill the hotdogs and got to enjoy a free meal.
Members of the non-profit tells News 25 their mission is to show appreciation for the heroic work our police officers do every day. G-Cops Secretary Karen Gouin said, “They’re confronted with so many different things during the day. If you were in trouble, they’re going to be there to help you, when no one else will. Help us to show them that we appreciate them.”
G-Cops is looking for people in our community who want to help Gulfport police officers in areas where the funding is very limited. If you’re interested in joining G-Cops, you can send an email to gptcops@gmail.com .
