Vancleave resident speaks on dangerous flooding from storms

Storms over the weekend brought on flooding in various parts of South Mississippi, including Vancleave.

On Saturday part of Barge Landing Rd was submerged underwater as Bluff Creek overflowed from Friday night’s weather. That flooding left some residents unable to access their homes along the river.

WXXV talked to Darryl Jackson, a local resident who spoke on how just how dangerous it was to access his brother’s home along Bluff Creek.

“That’s Bluff Creek right past that yellow sign. There’s usually a guard rail there that’s about two feet high and that’s already underwater.  I was planning on walking all the way in there but I got about waist deep and it was too dangerous.”
