Former Councilman Alan Moran violates probation

Former Diamondhead city councilman Alan Moran is back in Hancock County jail after being convicted of a child sex crime several months ago.

This time, Moran was arrested Monday by Waveland Police on a stalking warrant.

During a court hearing today, the Waveland police chief investigator testified that Moran repeatedly approached a 19-year-old employee working at Lowe’s, exhibiting behavior that made the employee uncomfortable.

This included initiating explicit conversations, such as asking if he had ever considered inappropriate acts with female employees for money and offering him $20 for such acts.

During another incident, he waited outside the Lowe’s parking lot for 10 minutes, waiting for the employee to come outside, when he followed him in his truck, which prompted the employee to get into his own car and drive in the other direction.

Today, a judge ruled that Alan Moran violated his probation when he was arrested on a misdemeanor stalking charge, and he was sent back to Hancock County jail.

Moran has been on probation and had to register as a lifelong sex offender since February 16 after pleading guilty to exploitation of a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

He solicited a 17-year-old boy for sex while he was training the teenager to work at Philip’s Pest Control, a company owned by Moran’s father.

Today’s court hearing did not determine if Moran is guilty, just if he violated his probation.
