Collision, car fire blocking northbound lanes of Highway 49 in McHenry

The inside lanes, northbound and southbound, are blocked off by a two-vehicle crash that caused a car fire in the median.

Stone County Sheriff Todd Stewart said two people were injured in the accident. Two others were not injured in the incident.

The collision happened just after 3 p.m.

The vehicle is fully engulfed and first responders are on the scene at Sunflower Road and Highway 49.

Firefighters from Sunflower, McHenry and Wiggins are battling the blaze, Stewart said.

Motorists can expect delays, but the outside lines are open at this time.
