Seabees mourn death of shipmate in Guam

NMCB 1 announced Tuesday the death of a Seabee as a result of an accident while on deployment to Guam.
The battalion said in a social media post that Machinery Repairman 1st Class Troy Marcotte died from injuries suffered in an off-duty accident at First Beach in Guam. The accident happened over the weekend.
The 40-year-old was a native of Colorado and joined the service in 2012.
The Navy could not provide details of the incident but did extend its gratitude to the Guam Fire Department, paramedics and medical personnel who responded and rendered aid to Marcotte.
NMCB 1 went on to ask that the public respect their privacy while they mourn the 12-year Navy veteran.
‘We understand that this is a difficult and emotional time, and we encourage our sailors to take care of themselves and to reach out to each other for support,” the post said. “We are here to support our shipmates and we encourage any sailor who is struggling to seek help and support.
“There are many resources available to assist including grief counselors ready to assist the families, friends, and shipmates.”
