Epps sentencing to begin today

The sentencing phase begins today for former corrections commissioner Christopher Epps. This is for his participation in a bribery scandal a little over two years ago.
After pleading guilty, Epps faces up to 23 years in prison and is forfeiting $1.7 million in assets.
Back in February 2015, Epps pled guilty to taking nearly one and a half million dollars in bribes and kickbacks over eight years to steer more than $800 million worth of state prison contracts.
Epps’ sentencing was delayed multiple times and the state says his actions cost the state over $300 million in assets.
