Celebrate the season with William Carey University

William Carey University will present three Christmas events in December – “Carey by Candlelight,” “Keyboards at Christmas,” and “A Carey Christmas.” All showcase the work of talented students from the Winters School of Music.
“We look forward to presenting these events every year to share the joy of the Christmas season with friends, family, and neighbors from the Pine Belt. Everyone’s working hard to get ready,” said Wes Dykes, dean of the Winters School of Music.
Carey by Candlelight
“Carey by Candlelight” will be Thursday, Dec. 5, at WCU-Hattiesburg. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This event marks the start of the holiday season. Guests are invited to drive through and see the campus lighted by thousands of luminaries. They can also stop at Common Grounds coffee shop and enjoy live music, fellowship, free hot chocolate, cider, cookies, and s’mores. Three WCU music groups will perform – “Carey On” a capella singers, Knights of Jazz combo, and Thomas Hall rock band.
The event is free and open to the public.
Keyboards at Christmas
William Carey’s “Keyboards at Christmas” concert will be Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Thomas Fine Arts Auditorium. The show starts at 7 p.m.
Winters School of Music has welcomed the community to this concert tradition for more than 25 years. It’s a unique experience because the audience is seated onstage, in a circle, surrounding four grand pianos. In the center of the circle, students, faculty members, and guest artists perform an evening of duets, duos, trios, quartets – and even an octet.
The Steinway Gallery in Spanish Fort, Ala., will also host “Keyboards at Christmas” on Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.
The concert is free, but seating is limited and audience members need to reserve a ticket. Visit ticketleap.com and enter “Keyboards at Christmas” in the Browse Events option.
A Carey Christmas
On Dec. 15-16, Winters School of Music will present its 4th Annual “A Carey Christmas” at Hardy Street Baptist Church. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Rejoice, the King is Born!”
This premiere Christmas event features the Carey Worship Choir and Orchestra, Carey Dance, and the Spirit of Carey Guard, as well as members of local dance studios.
There will be two performances on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. On Monday, Dec. 16, there will be one performance at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now – don’t wait to make a reservation because they sell out every year!
To purchase tickets, visit ticketleap.com and enter “A Carey Christmas” in the Browse Events option.
