What’s next for the New Orleans Saints? Interim head coach Darren Rizzi and players spoke to the media following Dennis Allen being fired on Monday
On Monday the New Orleans Saints fired head coach Dennis Allen.
This decision came after a 2-7 start to the season that included a losing streak that currently sits a 7 straight games.
“This is obviously a little bit of a tough situation as I told the team earlier today,” interim head coach Darren Rizzi said. “We have all had a hand, me included, in where we are right now. We are all going to have a hand in digging us out of the hole that we are in. As I told the team this morning…everything and everybody is going to get evaluated and re evaluated.”
“I think we have kind of dug ourselves into a hole,” Tyrann Mathieu said. “I think Rizz message was to fill it back up. That is going to take the people that is really in this room. From management, to staff, to players. I think we collectively all have to be on the same page and quiet frankly we all played a part in him not being here anymore. It’s definitely a tough place to be. I think from an accountability standpoint and a unity standpoint I think this gives us an opportunity to get closer and get tighter.”
“We are 2-7 and our head coach got fired today,” tight end Foster Moreau said. “I am going to say that generally speaking every single individual in this building has a hand in our record and our performance. This city deserves winners. These are tough and gritty people who have been through a hell of a lot. They deserve to watch sports teams that can go out there, lay it on the line, and come home with wins. We are going out there, we are laying a hell of a lot on the line, we just aren’t seeing the results and that is the bottom line.”
