Groundwork underway on Popps Ferry Causeway Park in Biloxi
Progress is underway on the Popps Ferry Causeway Park project in Biloxi.
According to Biloxi city officials, over the next 12 months Popps Ferry Causeway Park is getting a total makeover. The project includes upgrades to the fishing piers and boat ramps, new kayak launches, nature trials and an open-air interpretive center. Construction is in the preliminary phase right now.
Biloxi city officials tell News 25 they have already heard excitement about the project from visitors and fishermen who use the park’s ten acres on a regular basis. Cecilia Dobbs Walton with the City of Biloxi public affairs said, “It will be more enjoyable besides just walking out here and fishing. We will have an open air pavilion where they can have events, maybe like little reunions, picnics out there and of course, the kayaks because kayaks have always been very popular out here so that will be another amenity.”
The park expansion is part of a $5.9 million master plan funded by BP money. The project is set to be complete in April 2018.
