Traffic Update: I-10 Bridge Repair Project Delayed

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (M.D.O.T.) would like to update the public regarding the lane closures along I-10 originally scheduled to begin on October 14th. The bridge joint repair project I-10 over the Pearl River in Hancock County has been delayed until October 17th.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, October 17th, there will be one lane of I-10 eastbound and westbound closed until 6 a.m. on Monday, October 20th. This process will then be repeated the following weekend. Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, October 24th, one westbound and eastbound lane of I-10 will be closed until 6 a.m. on Monday, October 27th. Wide loads will be restricted to a maximum width of 11 feet while closures are in place.

“Work on this project will take place around the clock to minimize the impact to motorists who must travel along I-10 during the two week construction time frame,” said Southern Transportation Commissioner, Tom King. “This bridge maintenance work is an example of the priority M.D.O.T. places on the safety of the driving public.”

Motorists should consider alternate routes while repair work is taking place, as major traffic delays are expected during this time.
