WXXV speaks to a Florida resident as they prepare for Hurricane Milton
Residents in Florida are gearing up for another hurricane as Milton looks to make landfall in just a few days.
Many are prepping now by moving valuable items to elevated levels of homes and boarding up windows. These preparations come as residents are still recovering from Hurricane Helene which made landfall just two weeks ago.
Some folks even loading debris still leftover from Helene into U-Hauls before evacuating. Florida resident Dan Duenkel said, “You can see all the people’s belongings from the storm a week ago. People’s stuff still out by the curb. We got another storm coming, you can see the people with U-Haul trucks. That’s what’s happening. You can see how high up my house is, again it’s 12 feet above sea level. They’re saying at this point that water will get in that house. Water went up to the garage last week. You can see the water line right there, about a foot up, or 18 inches up, from last week.”
