15th annual Mississippi Songwriters Festival wraps up
The 15th annual Mississippi Songwriters Festival was a hit for many in attendance over the weekend.
The four-day event bought over 100 songwriters from across the U.S., all making the trek to Jackson County to celebrate music in the Magnolia State.
On Saturday, writers hosted a workshop for aspiring songwriters and featured free live shows at venues across the area.
The festival also saw four new members inducted into the Mississippi Songwriters Hall of Fame. Mississippi Songwriters Festival Board Member Darwin Nelson said, “We’ve put 26 people in our Hall of Fame at this point. It’s really kind of limitless going forward, just kind of tells you what kind of songwriting history we have. It’s not getting smaller, it’s just growing. People love it. That’s what the songwriters do, they pour out their heart and souls and all of our venues, when they’re doing their songs, and that’s kind of what it’s about.”
The festival’s grand finale wrapped up Sunday evening. Be sure to follow the Mississippi Songwriters Festival on Facebook to stay up to date as next year’s event is planned.
