MBI investigating officer-involved shooting in Olive Branch

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is leading an investigation of an officer-involved shooting with the Olive Branch Police Department that happened Monday morning.

MBI was notified about 9:50 a.m.

Officers with the Olive Branch SWAT Team were trying to serve an arrest warrant at a residence on Railroad Avenue in Olive Branch. The subject presented a weapon towards the officers, who then fired, causing fatal injuries to the subject.

The involved officer did not receive any serious physical injuries. This information is preliminary and subject to change.

This is the 23rd officer-involved shooting incident in Mississippi this year.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
