Gulfport, Miss. – Mississippi Power’s storm team has grown to 800 resources strong ahead of Hurricane Francine’s landfall Wednesday afternoon.

While the worst of the system is largely impacting Louisiana, Mississippi Power customers should prepare for strong winds, heavy rain and potential flooding as the system continues to move northeast.

“Our storm team has been working all week to prepare our system and enact our storm plan so that we are in the best place to serve our customers,” said Mississippi Power Storm Director Stephen Schruff. “We plan for every scenario and will shift resources to impacted areas across our service territory to meet our customers’ needs.”

In addition to Mississippi Power crews, contractor crews, Georgia Power contractor crews, vegetation management, damage assessment teams and support personnel will join the company’s restoration efforts as needed.

Mississippi Power customers can learn more about what to do before, during and after a storm by visiting the company’s storm center.
