Harrison County Board of Supervisors denies appeal for expansion off Highway 53

The Harrison County Board of Supervisors denied an appeal for a new subdivision off Highway 53.

The developers of Highland Gardens wanted to build a 270 unit subdivision on 177-acres off Highway 53 and Mark West Road.

In order to build the subdivision a zoning change would need to take place, changing the area from an agricultural zone to single-family residential zone.

A zoning change was requested by developers but was denied three times as Harrison County Board of Supervisor President Marlin Ladner felt it didn’t meet the requirements.

The Board of Supervisors decided to unanimously decline the appeal with no plans to revisit at this time.
