2017 Boo Ferris Trophy Finalists

In what’s shaping up to be one of the best regular seasons in Southern Miss baseball history, three standouts from this year’s team now have the chance to go down in history as the best player in Mississippi this season.
This morning, five finalists were announced for the 2017 C-Spire Boo Ferris Trophy which is given out annually to the top college baseball player in the Magnolia State. Leading the pack is the USM trio headlined by Dylan Burdeaux, who leads all of Division 1 baseball with 86 hits. Joining him are Matt Wallner and Taylor Braley who rank first and second on the team in homeruns respectively.
Mississippi State is represented by junior first baseman Brent Rooker, who is on pace to become the first player to win the SEC triple crown in 33 years.
Rounding out the class is Zack Shannon from Delta State, a .451 hitter that leads the Statesmen in just about every major offensive category.
