Post on Pine in Wiggins hosts comedy night

The Post on Pine Irish Pub in downtown Wiggins hosted locals for a laugh during its comedy night on Thursday.

The event is typically held once or twice per month, and, as Post on Pine owner Tricia Mimbs explained, draws quite the entertainment.

“We bring comedians from all over the country, so tonight, we have comedians from Oklahoma and Texas,” Mimbs said. “Here in Mississippi, we have a local comedian from Hattiesburg and from Louisiana, so it just brings in something we don’t normally get to have here in Stone County.”

The pub’s Thursday event featured comedians from Lunchbox Comedy, produced by comedian Jeff Vance.

“We’re 100-percent a comedy show,” Vance said. “Lunchbox Comedy does comedy all across the Gulf Coast.”

Vance was joined by a trio of fellow comedians: Matt Ferrell, Wayne Morris, and Ben Compton. They each expressed their joy at getting to visit the Wiggins community and bring some entertainment along with them.

“This is an awesome place,” Ferrell said. “We travel all over the country, we get to go to different towns, different venues… so places like this here in Wiggins, this is where comedy’s really starting to grow and thrive, so this is awesome what they’re doing.”

“This just means so much for me to have this here, Lunchbox Comedy,” Morris added. “Yeah, this is awesome to have Lunchbox Comedy here in Wiggins.”

Compton was especially complimentary of Wiggins and the Magnolia State as a whole.

“One thing that I love about Mississippi comedy is that you find these spots that don’t seem like comedy spots,” Compton explained. “I’ve traveled all around the US. I’ve gone to big cities, small cities… nothing is like a Mississippi city.”

Post on Pine Irish Pub plans to have more comedy nights and other events in the future.
