Essential Fundraising for Anniston Elementary PTA
Anniston Elementary in Gulfport hosted a spaghetti supper Tuesday night to raise some much needed funding for their PTA. Funds from these events are crucial for Anniston students as well as schools all across Southern Mississippi.
Anniston Principal, Crystal Ward, stressed the importance of the PTA for many initiatives within the school. “Fundraising really helps us to channel more funds. A lot of times our hands are tied at the school level to do things to be able to support teachers. So, a lot of this funding not only goes to support students but really goes to support teachers and the initiatives we have across the school.”
An Anniston Elementary parent, Russ Hilton, said he noticed the difference the PTA and its funding can make in his child’s future. I’d say investing your schools and kids and stuff is never a waste of money, you always get your money back many times over so I highly recommend it.”
PTA fundraising is the backbone of many school activities and helps to ensure that the proper funding makes it those in need. “I’ve been in situation where we don’t have that extra money and we have to bootstrap and do it ourselves and so it is critically important to the success of a school and the strength of the community around that school,” said Ward.
Fundraisers like these are one of many. Currently Anniston is working to raise funds for their music department and a new theatre stage.
