National Lighthouse Day: Round Island Lighthouse in Pascagoula

Today is National Lighthouse Day and WXXV News 25’s Everett Ganier Jr. took a trip out to Pascagoula this morning.

The Round Island Lighthouse has been a beacon for mariners for 150 years. It’s survived multiple hurricanes and has undergone numerous renovations.

Pascagoula Mayor Jay Willis spoke on its importance and how you can learn more about its history outside of just this one day. “This lighthouse represents so much about Pascagoula as it relates to resiliency and stability.”

There are other iconic lighthouses around the Coast including the Biloxi Lighthouse along Highway 90 you can visit and appreciate.
