Woolmarket residents anticipate new sidewalk construction

1.25 miles of sidewalks will be installed through the heart of Woolmarket in the coming months, providing a safe route for residents who walk along the roads.

These sidewalks will stretch along Woolmarket Road between Lorraine Road and Jim Byrd Road, as well as along Lorraine Road from Woolmarket Road to Nature’s Trail.

As resident Jake Gazzo explained, there is currently lots of foot-traffic in grassy areas along these roadways, with many residents looking to access local businesses or even just exercise.

“I see people walking out here all the time, and right now, people are having to walk on the edge of the road, and with all the traffic and all of the construction and new housing that’s going on in Woolmarket, there’s a lot more traffic than there used to be,” Gazzo said.

He added that he is optimistic about the future plans.

“This should provide a safe place for people to walk to and from the school and other locations like the Dollar General and the Family Dollar, and there’s a lot of other businesses that are growing out here that I think it’ll benefit,” Gazzo said.

Construction on this project is expected to begin in September.
