Pascagoula-Gautier School District begins 2024 academic year
It’s that time of the year again for one Jackson County school district… time to trade in those goggles and beach towels for backpacks and notebooks!
The Pascagoula-Gautier School District is set to begin its 2024 academic year on Tuesday morning, with both schools honoring senior students and showing off their school spirit.
Pascagoula High School’s Class of 2025 kicks off its final year of high school with a parade, and the fun continues for all grade levels.
Each grade is encouraged to wear its class colors to start accumulating points for this year’s “Clash of the Classes.” Freshmen wear white, sophomores sport blue, juniors wear red and seniors bring up the rear with black attire. Tuesday is also a “no-backpack” day for students.
Pascagoula High School is planning to get the local community involved in activities, beginning with its community pep rally on August 2nd.
Gautier High School’s senior class can begin its final year with a Back to School Breakfast at Gautier First United Methodist Church beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday. A class picture follows at 7:30 a.m.
The Senior Send-Off starts next, where the families of seniors line the drive to GHS to welcome the Class of 2025 to its last First Day of School.
As for the entire student body, there are a few reminders to keep in mind for both the first day and throughout the year.
Students should report to the cafeteria for breakfast upon arrival. After breakfast, each grade will report to designated locations: freshmen and sophomores will sit in the gym with their classmates, while juniors and seniors will remain in the courtyard.
Gautier High School also emphasizes its cell phone policy. Cell phones must be turned off and put away during the day, and earbuds can only be used for educational purposes with an instructor’s permission.
Lastly, hoods cannot be worn in the main building, cafeteria, gym or fieldhouse. Backpacks will also not be permitted on Tuesday.
To wrap up the First Day of School, Gautier High presents the Senior Sunset at the GHS football field. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and the event will feature games, food and picture props.
Gautier High School students are encouraged to wear their class colors on Friday. As a reminder: seniors wear gold, juniors wear blue, sophomores wear green and freshmen wear white.
WXXV News 25 hopes everyone has a successful and safe school year.
