ER doctors celebrate 50 years of care at Singing River Health System
Singing River Health System’s emergency room physicians celebrate 50 years of community care today.
Staff members held a special anniversary service in Pascagoula and Ocean Springs to salute the hard workers who care for all of Jackson County and surrounding areas.
Opening in 1967, the system holds the distinction of being the first full-time emergency department in the state of Mississippi. The system’s two hospital emergency rooms at Singing River and Ocean Springs Hospital are among the largest in the state, serving more than 100,000 patients a year. Singing River Health System CEO Kevin Holland said, “I think the continuity of care and the stability that they brought to our organization has been really meaningful and we’re just truly blessed in this community to have this caliber of talent serving our organization and our community for 50 years. We’re very proud of them.”
Today’s event is a part of National Hospital Week with celebrations taking place across the nation.
