Thursday, June 20, 2024— Two businesses located in Downtown Wiggins participated in a check presentation ceremony today following receipt of façade grant funding from the Mississippi Power Foundation and the Stone County Economic Development Partnership (SCEDP).

Post on Pine Irish Pub and Staigle’s Steakhouse, both located on Pine Avenue in Wiggins, each received checks for $5,000 this month following renovation projects at each location.

The Wiggins Façade Grant program, which targets businesses located in the Central Business District that are serviced by Mississippi Power, began four years ago.  Since that time, eight businesses have received nearly $40,000 in façade grant funding, including Paul Hardy Properties, Wilson’s Pharmacy, Farmer’s Leasing and Wiggins Self Storage.  To date, the combined improvement projects represent a total investment of nearly $200,000.

“Mississippi Power and SCEDP applaud each and every owner who has made costly investments on their Downtown Wiggins businesses in the past years,” said Layla Essary, SCEDP Executive Director.  “Today is another opportunity to celebrate the work of these committed business owners and spread the message that Wiggins is a great place to visit and do business.”

Essary added that The Lightered Knot on Pine Avenue and The Frosty Mug on Magnolia Drive have recently been approved for grant funding to support renovation projects currently underway. Mississippi Power and SCEDP contributed matching funds totaling $50,000 to establish the Wiggins Façade Grant program.
