Zach Allen introduced as new MGCCC head baseball coach
A familiar face is making his way to the coast, or rather staying on the coast, as one former high school baseball standout has been hired as the head baseball coach at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
Earlier this week the university introduced Zach Allen as the new baseball head coach at MGCCC. Allen is a Pascagoula alumni and now the 18th baseball coach in Bulldog history. He has had coaching positions all around the coast; an assistant coach for MGCCC since 2021, spent three seasons at Jones Community College, was the Harrison Central head coach in 2018, and also a volunteer assistant at Stone high during the 2013-14 seasons.
Sports 25 caught up with Allen following the announcement of his new position and he says he is excited to get started.
“I’m extremely excited, extremely humbled, this is a great place with a great facility and great administration,” Allen said. “It’s about building a good culture here. Getting back to the winning ways, that is big for us, and that is what we are going to try and do. Develop these guys, move on to the next level, and win some championships while we do it.
Allen added that although the announcement was only made a day ago, he and his staff are already busy recruiting the top players in the Magnolia State to become bulldogs.
