Mississippi Power cleaning up Back Bay

Mississippi Power took part in clean-up efforts in Biloxi’s Back Bay earlier today.

The clean-up is a part of Mississippi Power’s Renew our Rivers initiative. The group collected dozens of bags of trash from the water ahead of peak boating season in local waters.

This clean-up effort is one of three scheduled for this month. Mississippi Power Spokeswoman Kaila Moran Griffith said, “We’re doing another Renew Our Rivers Cleanup, today we are in Biloxi cleaning up the Back Bay. This is something we do starting in the Spring and throughout the year so that we can really clean up our waterways. Just today, we see it’s already boating season here in South Mississippi, so we’ve already seen a lot of boats which means a lot of trash. Making our waterways safer and cleaner so everyone can enjoy it this summer.”

Mississippi Power employees helped to clean up Meridian’s Chunky River and Hattiesburg’s Okatoma River last week.
