Fort Bayou drawbridge damaged

Fort Bayou Bridge Closing Tonight From 10 P.m. To 5 A.m.

Tuesday’s weather caused damage to the Fort Bayou Drawbridge in Ocean Springs.

According to MDOT District 6 Engineer Billy Owen, high winds caused the arms that raise and lower when the bridge opens were broken.

The winds caused damage to the devices that operate those arms.

No closures or delays are expected, but MDOT crews will have to direct traffic if the bridge needs to raise at any point.

At this time, MDOT is performing a damage assessment and creating a report.

Crews are working on a fix, but there is no estimated time for completion.
