Harrison County ‘dining room on wheels’ brings the cafeteria to children

The Harrison County School District cut the ribbon on their new ‘dining room on wheels.’

The mobile dining trailer is able to transport food across the district, as well as all the supplies needed to create a mini cafeteria.

Equipped with a cafeteria table, handing washing station, and air conditioning, the unit is perfect for enjoying lunch with friends on a hot summer day.

Rebecca Summers is a child nutritionist working in the trailer this summer. She talked more about how this mobile dining room will be used throughout the district. “It gives us an opportunity to go to places where children aren’t able to go to one of the regular dine-in schools. I love being able to provide something for children that a lot of time they can’t get at home with our fresh fruits and vegetables. A lot of families can’t afford fresh fruits and vegetables. I like to see them happy and tell me that it was good.”

The trailer will be at the Herbert Wilson Recreation Center this week.
