Fans flock for free comics on National Free Comic Book Day

It’s the day every comic book fan waits for: Free Comic Book Day. It’s the first Saturday of May and gives away free comic books to encourage all fans to flock to their local comic shops.
Fans came together Saturday at Long Beach Comics to discover new comics and make new friends. There were over thousands to choose from, everything from superheroes to popular film and TV shows and video games. They even have cosplayers dressed up for the event.
Long Beach Comic Shop Co-owner Elizabeth Carpenter said, “We get free comic books in the mail from our distributor and people just come and pick them up and pick and choose what they want, whatever movie is about to come out is going to the be the popular one, but this year it’s actually looking to be like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.’”
Even though Free Comic Book Day is over, it’s never too late to start becoming a fan of them. If you check out freecomicbookday.com you can find local comic book shops and see the variety of action packed comics that are available.
