A Change Of Command Keesler Air Force Base
At Keesler Air Force Base on Sunday, the 403rd Wing welcomed a new commander.
News 25’s Hank Davis takes us to the change of command ceremony.
“The 403rd wing of the United States Air Force is charged with providing tactical airlift support and boasts the only hurricane reconnaissance unit housed in the department of defense. The wing is also known for their flying Jenny’s.. And happens to be the only C-130 equipped unit in the air force reserve.”

Since last September, the 403rd wing has been under the command of Colonel Michael W. Manion..
But after a recent change of command, the 403rd wing welcomes Colonel Jennie Johnson to Keesler Air Force Base…
Where she’s making history.
“Col. Johnson’s appointment marks the first time in the history of the 403rd wing that a woman has been in charge of over 1500 airmen.”

The new commander isn’t going to waste anytime, taking the reins of her new unit.
“We’re hitting the ground running on another storm season this year, and we’re also getting ready for a number of future deployments and I’m confident that the 403rd wing is going to be ready to answer our nations call when it comes.”
