Three charged in connection with shooting in Picayune

On April 29th at about 9 p.m. Picayune police officers heard gunshots on the east side of town and a short time later were dispatched to Third Street in reference to a shooting.

The suspects fled the scene. Although close to 20 rounds were fired at two people standing near a vehicle no one was injured. Several rounds did strike a vehicle and a residence.

Picayune PD relayed a description of the suspect vehicle to local agencies and the Slidell Police Department located it on Tuesday, April 30th and conducted a traffic stop in their jurisdiction. The driver, Jamarcus Adams, was taken into custody. Evidence from the shooting was recovered from his vehicle.

Two other suspects, Cedric Tyner and Lawrence Joseph Jr., were located at a residence on Baylous Street and were also taken into custody.

Once they were located detectives with the Special Operations Division obtained a search warrant for the property where they located 25 pressed fentanyl pills along with crushed fentanyl pills. Paraphernalia used for distribution was also located.

Adams is currently in St. Tammany and has charges with Slidell PD. He has a hold for Picayune PD and is being charged with Aggravated Assault and Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling.

Tyner was charged with Aggravated Assault and shooting into an Occupied Dwelling.

Joseph Jr. was charged with Aggravated Assault, shooting into an Occupied Dwelling and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute within 1500 feet of a church.
