Biloxi Shuckers rained out in game one versus Montgomery Biscuits

Yesterday was supposed to be the Biloxi Shuckers only day off over a 41 day stretch. That means today, they were supposed to get back on the Diamond, but Mother Nature had other plans.
Game one between the Shuckers and Montgomery Biscuits was postponed around 5 p.m. today due to inclement weather. Instead, the two teams will now play a double header tomorrow with game one starting an hour earlier than usual at 5:35, followed by game two a half hour after the completion of the first one.
Sounds like a nice little two day vacation for the Shuckers, but Manager Mike Guerrero says that’s hardly the case. “They can get any rest by not playing that day, but also when you look at it they were here at 1 o’clock and doing their physical work in there in the gym and stretch, different stretch and throwing, all that kind of stuff. Yes, they didn’t play today but they were here. Anytime that you go to work it’s not a day off.”
Weather permitting, the Shuckers will be working overtime tomorrow with 18 innings of guaranteed baseball. Heading into the double dip, they boast an overall record of 11-14 having most recently won four out of five on the road at Pensacola.
In total, the Shuckers are now five series into the 2017 season and Guerrero says the identity of his team is finally starting to take form. “I think the identity is that we’re trying to teach is not an individual identity, it’s just to play the game the right way. Just to manage how to put chemistry together and teamwork together. I think that’s the best way to identify them is play like a team and let the teamwork be productive out there.”
Tomorrow’s twin bill is a rematch of Biloxi’s first series of the year. The Shuckers took three out of five from the Biscuits on the road.
