Low Voter Turnout Predicted

Today’s primary will narrow the list of candidates for mayor in several cities.
With a small number of absentee ballots cast, state election officials are hoping for a large voter turnout.
Primary runoffs will be May 16.
The general election is June 6, and new terms begin July 1.
Here on the coast, Pascagoula and long beach will see new mayors.
In Moss Point, 11 candidates are vying for mayor seven of them squaring off in the democratic primary today.
Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes and Pass Christian Mayor Chipper McDermott are running unopposed.
