Gautier high school girls powerlifting wins back-to-back-to-back state championships
The Gautier girls powerlifting team recently added to the history they have been making for the last three years.
Over the weekend the Gators powerlifters brought home their third consecutive high school state title after traveling to Jackson for their competition. Sports 25 had the chance to speak with seniors on the team about what it means to cap off their high school career with a state championship.
“It meant a lot to me because, my thing is, we are a big family,” said Destiny Costitt. “Just to compete for another year and take home the trophy with your family is a really good feeling.”
“It definitely means a lot,” said senior Joy Mimms. “I think about how we are making history, and we continue making history, and I am glad that we get to set the example and the legacy for the teams that come behind us.”
“It means a lot because we starting being the first team in Gautier to win a state championship and then being able to continue doing that, and being able to do that my senior year, really means a lot to me.” said Kianna High.
