Birdies for Bacot kicks off with fundraiser at The Grand Magnolia
Birdies for Bacot formerly known as "The Jolly" kicked off on Wednesday at the Grand Magnolia
The event kicked off at 4 PM at the Grand Magnolia Ballroom in Pascagoula. In addition to a delicious shrimp boil, Popeyes, and Tays BBQ provided a spread that made sure nobody went home hungry.
“It’s a shrimp boil, we have popeyes chicken being cooked right here. And several other food items we have tonight”
While the food certainly was something to write home about, it wasn’t the main reason people showed up. That being the kickoff of this year’s Birdies for Bacot.
“It’s raised millions of dollars for youth education and arts programs all across the gulf coast.”
The fundraiser is a yearly event that combines fun and fundraising by bringing community members together while raising money for great causes. Tonight’s event saw many donations to nonprofits including a $25000 donation from Butch Oustalet to Home of Grace and a $100000 donation from the IP casino to the Bacot Foundation of South Mississippi.
“So, you’ll see about 29 profit heads receiving checks from us because the IP is giving us a check for $100,000. From there we’re gonna get the out community together and put on a big super event and hopefully bring awareness to causes and the financial resources that are needed to meet those causes.”
Birdies for Bacot will continue on May 17th and 18th with a gala and golf tournament.
