Former Ocean Springs Greyhound Garrett Crochet shines in MLB Opening Day start
Thursday was Major League baseball’s openings day and this years regular season start meant a little more to sports fans here on the coast.
Ocean Springs high school alum Garrett Crochet took the mound for the Chicago White Sox season opener against the Detroit Tigers.
The former Greyhound was remarkable in his first ever opening day start. Crochet finished with eight strikeouts, no walk, and only gave up five hits including one earned run in six innings of work.
It was, however, in a losing effort as the White Sox offense never woke up, only putting three hits on the board as the Tigers walk away with the Opening Day win 1-0.
