Three injured in two-vehicle crash on Highway 49 in Harrison County

Three people were injured Wednesday in a two-car crash on Highway 49 at West Wortham Road.

Mississippi Highway Patrol said two teenage girls were in a vehicle in the northbound turn lane of Highway 49.

When they attempted a left-hand turn onto West Wortham Road, they failed to yield to oncoming traffic and a vehicle hit them during the turn.

Both girls were air-lifted to Mobile for treatment. They are expected to make a full recovery.

The driver of the southbound vehicle also was injured in the crash and is expected to recover.
