St. Patrick girls soccer star Maddie Kostmayer signs to play at Pearl River Community College
It seems as if every other day there are high school athletes right here on the coast taking their talents to the next level and signing to colleges both in and out of the Magnolia state.
Wednesday was no different.
Not only does local student-athletes signing to play college sports feel like a regular occurrence – seeing St. Patrick high school girls soccer players put pen to paper seems just as common.
On Wednesday, Maddie Kostmayer signed to continue playing on the pitch at Pearl River Community College.
While at St. Patrick, Kostmayer helped lead the Lady Irish to back-to-back state titles during her junior and senior seasons.
While her time at St. Patrick high school is coming to an end, she spoke on what continuing her career at the next level means to her.
“When I toured there I really loved it and it felt like home,” she said. “The coaches were super welcoming, they had open arms, and their campus just felt like home. The girls, I met all of the girls, and they are super nice and they are very good people. It’s just amazing. It’s a relief because I get to know that I am going to play two more years of soccer. It is an opportunity that a lot of people don’t have so I am blessed to have that.”
