Police identify woman killed in weekend accident in Pass Christian.

Pass Christian police say a local woman involved in a Friday night accident has died from her injuries, and has been identified as 30-year-old Iris Franklin of Pass Christian. On Saturday April 22, 2017, Pass Christian Police Chief Timothy Hendricks announced the investigation into a tragic accident that occurred late Friday night in the area of Highway 90 and Church Street.

The incident occurred around 08:52 pm on Friday, April 21, 2017. Police say a Toyota was travelling south on Church Street and attempted to pull out onto US 90. The second vehicle, a Ford Explorer, was westbound on US 90, and struck the Toyota on the driver’s side. The driver of the Toyota, 30-year-old Iris Franklin of Pass Christian, was initially extricated from the vehicle and flown to a hospital but later pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families involved,” says Pass Christian Police Chief Timothy Hendricks. The cause and contributing factors of this accident are currently under investigation. The driver of the Explorer was also taken to a local hospital and later released.
