Quilts of Valor Foundation gifts veterans quilts for their service
The Quilts of Valor Foundation gave away four uniquely woven quilts to veterans on the Coast.
The vets range in age from 60 to 90 years old. They received specifically crafted quilts symbolic of the branch they served in and the stories they experienced serving the United States.
The event is the first of many for the local Quilts of Valor Foundation chapter based out of Jackson County.
The mission of the organization is to cover veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts. Heather Ashbach with the Quilts of Valor Foundation said, “And we put our love into that quilt. And we hope that every veteran who receives a Quilt of Valor feels that love and carries that with them within that quilt.”
Vietnam Veteran Bob Giglio said, “When we came back, we were not accepted and something like this makes you feel accepted and it’s just a special thing.”
If you are a veteran or know of a friend or a family member that you would like to nominate to receive a Quilt of Valor, email alwaysbelievemsqov@yahoo.com to fill out an application.
