Mississippi Aquarium adding virtual reality experiences

The Mississippi Aquarium is adding a new perspective into the world’s most unique places with its new wild explorer virtual reality experience.

The new VR experience launched today. The exhibit gives guests a 360-degree 3D experience, taking you up close and personal into the depths of the ocean with a shark dive.

Guests can also head to the jungle with gorillas on a gorilla trek.

The shark dive allows visitors to travel through the underwater strip called Tiger Beach while the gorilla trek leads travelers to the extinct volcanoes of Rwanda in Central Africa. Mississippi Aquarium CEO and President Kurt Allen said, “You’re swimming with sharks and actually feels like you’re swimming with the sharks because of the movement. So, it really does give you a totally immersive experience.”

“Really cool because the seat vibrates so like it feels much more realistic. The chair moves like up and down.”

Tickets to purchase one ride are $10 per person, but are $8 through the weekend.
