Security Forces Protection Exercises at the NBCB

U.S. Naval Security Forces are participating in force protection exercises for the next few weeks.

News 25 got a peek at one of the active shooter drills conducted by the Naval Security Forces Thursday morning.

The training goes hand-and-hand with the annual Navy-wide Solid Curtain Citadel/ Shield Operation exercises.

The exercises give the Navy a chance to assess their capabilities to handle these situations.

Captain Ana Franco, Naval Construction Battalion Center commanding officer, says the operation is key to keeping personnel safe.

The exercises are the best way to evaluate and improve procedures and strengthen response to any threat that may come our way. Captain Franco said, “Gives them the opportunity to also not just respond, but to interact with local, whether it’s city or county, law enforcement officials. So, there’s a lot of learning that happens here. And again, it’s really about training like we fight.”

Naval Security Forces will continue these exercises through next week.
