17-year-old dies in Pearl River County wreck

A 17-year-old driver was killed Thursday when another vehicle crossed the center line on Highway 11.

Mississippi Highway Patrol was called out to the crash at 10:45 a.m. Thursday morning to the incident in Pearl River County.

Troopers say 83-year-old Dorothy Smith of Poplarville and 17-year-old Justin Schielder of Carriere were traveling south on the highway when they collided with a truck driven by 41-year-old Ruben Ventura of Carriere, who had crossed the center line while traveling north on the highway.

Schielder received fatal injuries in the crash, which is under investigation by Mississippi Highway Patrol.
