National Serpent Day at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center
Have no fear, but today is National Serpent Day and Lynn Meadows Discovery Center got in on the fun with Nature on the Geaux!
Lynn Meadows Discovery Center got in on the fun with Nature on the Geaux stopping by to educate children on the different snakes around the world.
Children were able to hold the snakes and feel the shed skin from the reptiles.
Nature on the Geaux Founder and Animal Handler Tanee Janusz says the education of snakes early on helps children defeat the fear of the reptile as they grow older. “So, this is really great that they have this here so she can look at them and touch them. They’re not going to go around and just bite just because but that’s what people think. And so, I’m there to kind of, kind of make them more relatable to people too. So, they aren’t as afraid.”
