Ninth annual Jazz and Blues Festival

Local food, arts and crafts vendors, along with Jazz and Blues musicians from around the country were all on hand for Southern Miss Gulf Park’s ninth annual Jazz and Blues Festival this weekend.
Children along the Coast enjoyed an Easter egg hunt that consisted of 12,000 toy and candy filled eggs.
Southern Miss Gulf Park Director of Operations and Outreach Kady Pietz tells News 25 the volunteers from student organizations and the community, in addition to fundraising by Gulf Park students, is the reason the festival is a huge success year after year. “We love putting on Southern Miss Jazz and Blues Festival. This is our ninth year and we love hosting the community on our beautiful campus, we look forward to this event every year. Community outreach is very important to the University of Southern Mississippi not just for those future eagles, but really like to give back and this day was great. To see families come together and having a good time, lots of children activities, we are proud to be part of the Gulf Coast.”
Pietz and staff tell News 25 they cannot wait to start planning for next year’s event.
