2024 MLK Community Expo offers resources to the community
Over the weekend, a community expo was held on the Coast ahead of MLK Day.
The second annual Martin Luther King Community Expo at the Orange Grove Community Center provided multiple resources to the community.
Attendees were able to receive expert advice in the areas of health and wellness, entrepreneurship, and more.
Angie Juzang with Memorial Health System shares with us the importance of the expo and Martin Luther King Jr.’s long-lasting effect on the community to this day. “We’re helping them take control of their health, their finances, and if they have any information that they need for veterans, or senior services, workforce development, career training. And so, there’s an opportunity for a bunch of organizations to come together and support one another. And obviously support the community.”
Tremain Merrell with the Boys and Girls Club said, “First of all, to try to continue on Martin Luther King Jr. has a dream to make everything equal. And of course, now it’s about equity. We want to make sure that everybody has an opportunity to get the resources that they need here in this community.”
The theme of the expo this year was ‘Helping our Community Live the Dream.’
