Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church hosting Wild Game Fest set for MLK Day
(OCEAN SPRINGS, MS): The unmistakable aroma of hamburgers, chicken, beef, and even some exotic culinary surprises will fill the air at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Park in Ocean Springs on Monday for the MLK Wild Game Fest.
What started off as a small family cookout more than 30 years ago has grown to an annual event attracting hundreds of folks from all corners of the Coast.
A very dedicated band of cooks will be gathering on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day starting at noon to serve the public. The invitation is open to the public to drop by for a free delicious meal grilled up on the newly built grill now standing at the MLK Park.
There are several other new additions to the park including a bike rack, new bathrooms, gazebo fans, and an art sculpture to stand on the grounds is in the planning stages.
The event is hosted by Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and event leaders say it is more important than ever to bring the community together to share goals and ideas.
“Dr. King was not just for one group. He was for everyone,” said Greg Gipson of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.
“We will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with observances that will pay tribute to the man, the message, and the movement.”
City leaders will also be attending the event to celebrate with the community.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Park is located at 811 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue in Ocean Springs. The Park is directly behind Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. For more information contact Greg Gipson at 228-218-7050.
