Runners participate in Frosty Kroc Race

Local runners put their skills to the test to start the new year for the annual Frosty Kroc Race by the Salvation Army Kroc Center.

Runners of all ages began the race in the east parking lot of the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino.

The race consisted of runners partaking in the one-mile fun-run, 5K, and 10K races.

The course of the race took runners up and down the Biloxi-Ocean Springs Bridge and through Front Beach in Ocean Springs.

Some of the top place finishers had this to say on staying motivated and starting your fitness journey to begin the new year. Ocean Springs resident Pamela Dowell said, “The start of the new year and everybody’s kind of motivated. So, just remember, this motivation gets you gets you going, but discipline keeps you growing.”

Pascagoula resident Jimmy Krebs said, “The test of fitness is actually not so much how fast that you can run because you can run short distances fast, a true measure is how quickly you recover your heart rate.”

Mandeville resident Rachel Hines said, “If you feel like you can’t do it, just keep going because you can do it. Even if it’s a slow run, I mean, a run is a run, it’s awesome. Just do it. Get up and do it.”
