Funeral arrangements announced for George County deputy

George County Deputy Jeremy Malone will be buried Friday in Harlston, Mississippi, the sheriff announced over the weekend.

Malone was killed in the line of duty on January 4, 2024 during a traffic stop in George County.

Sheriff Mitchell Mixon said funeral arrangements are being handled by Moments Funeral Home in Lucedale.

A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Agricola Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Bro. Tommy Mitchell will officiate and burial will follow at Tanners Cemetery in Harlston.

Pallbearers will include fellow deputies in the George County Sheriff’s Department. All other officers will serve as honorary pallbearers, Mixon said.
