Peelin’ and Politickin’
This evening in Gulfport, constituents got a chance to put a face with the names on this year’s ballots while enjoying some delicious gulf seafood.
Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport hosted the second ever Peelin’ and Politickin’ event, put together by the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce. This event is a part of the chamber’s mission to connect community members and the local government.
Candidates running for office in both the city and county governments were on hand to meet and mingle with their potential voters. Gulfport Chamber of Commerce Director Hannah Burnett said, “This gives the community a hands on way to be involved as well as make themselves informed voters. It gives them the opportunity to talk on a one-on-one basis with those running for office. It’s a wonderful opportunity for people to connect which is one of our determined pillars at the chamber. It’s what guides a lot of our mission is enabling people to get together and meet one another.”
For those who plan on showing up at the polls, municipal elections will take place in June.
