Harrison County Law Enforcement Training Academy starts soon
The Harrison County Law Enforcement Academy is gearing up for its first session of the year.
Starting Sunday, 22 cadets from over 14 different agencies will be spending 11 weeks at the Harrison County Law Enforcement Training Academy.
The newest cadets will be tested in a series of physical and educational courses mandated by the state Board on Mississippi Law Enforcement Standards and Training.
Harrison County’s law enforcement training academy is only one of five residential style boot camps in the state for male and female cadets. Director of Training Captain Brandon Hendry said, “The obvious benefit for the individual officers is that they receive the basic minimum training that includes knowledge of our state laws, the constitution, and obviously, the physical fitness that they would be required to being their new job as a patrolman or law enforcement officer.”
This is the third class to ever be held at the new Harrison County Law Enforcement Training academy, named after former sheriff Troy Peterson.
